About

Email: maheen@thetherapyspace.co

As individuals on our own unique journeys, we are constantly faced with new challenges, experiences and opportunities. While this can very exciting, it can also be accompanied by some difficult moments. My goal is to help you learn and grow by providing you with the skills and resources needed to successfully navigate the ups and downs of life. I will work alongside you in a supportive and collaborative manner to help you achieve fulfillment and be the best version of yourself.

I like to use an integrative approach, drawing from frameworks such as cognitive-behavioural, psychodynamic and mindfulness-based therapies. I operate from a person-centred, culturally informed lens. My personal experiences help me understand challenges including immigration and intergenerational conflict, as well as issues faced by marginalized communities. In addition, my work with neurodiverse clients allows me to adapt my approach to best suit your needs. I aim to provide a safe and non-judgemental environment where we can work together to reach your goals.

Outside of work, you can find me spending time outdoors, practicing yoga or cuddled up with my cat and a good show!

If you think we would be a good fit, please contact me at maheen@thetherapyspace.co to schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation! I look forward to meeting you.

Q&A with

Maheen Iqbal

What is it like working with you?

My goal as a therapist is to create a safe and supportive environment where we can work together to identify and achieve your goals. I recognize that seeking therapy can be difficult and that everyone is on a unique journey. I aim to meet you where you are and help you develop the skills and knowledge you need to thrive.

What do you like most about being a therapist?

One of my favourite parts about being a therapist is getting to know the things that make each client unique and building a therapeutic relationship. I also appreciate hearing feedback from clients and celebrating all kinds of progress!

What are some ways you take care of your mental health?

I take care of my mental health by staying active and making time for the things I enjoy doing. I like going on walks, doing yoga and being outdoors. In my free time, I am usually spending time with family and friends, or cuddled up with my cat and one of my favourite TV shows.
