Life is unpredictable, it is filled with highs and lows that challenge us. There are some challenges we can navigate on our own and others that require a bit of extra support. That is what I am here for! I strive to create a kind, compassionate, judgement-free space in which we can explore some of life’s more challenging moments.

Whatever it is that you are going through, whether you are feeling overwhelmed at work, challenged in your relationships, carrying heavy experiences or emotions of loss, grief or trauma, struggling with sex and intimacy, or something simply feels off in your life, I am here to provide you with tools and strategies to help navigate life’s complexities and build insight to create lasting change.

I approach therapy from a holistic perspective and adapt to the needs of my individual clients. Every client is unique and there is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all model. I wish to learn and grow alongside you and I want us to collaborate to find which techniques and strategies feel authentic to you. I prioritize a collaborative and client-centered approach. My goal is to provide you with the necessary tools, strategies and insight that empower you to make the best decisions you can for yourself. You are the expert of your story!

One of the quotes that I hold near and dear to my heart is “healing is not a linear process, it moves in waves, loops, and circles.” This is foundational to my work as a therapist. You may feel like you are moving forward one day and taking a step back the next but ultimately we continue to grow.

If any of this resonates with you, please feel free to book a 15-minute consultation call. I look forward to meeting you!

Q&A with Maxine Gognon

What it is like working with you?

Although the therapy room can seem like a serious and even scary environment, I also believe that it can be a joyful and fun experience. I strive to create a brave, compassionate and non-judgemental space, filled with laughter and care, where we can work together to achieve your therapeutic goals. My goal is for you to feel challenged and supported, simultaneously. My priority is to ensure that you feel heard, respected and understood, especially in the more challenging moments. I promise to show up as authentically as possible, in the hopes that you will feel safe enough to do the same!

What do you like most about being a therapist?

One of the aspects I love most about being a therapist is having the opportunity to create a space in which clients feel comfortable opening up and discovering parts of themselves that were unknown. It is a privilege to witness individuals getting to know themselves more deeply and feeling more connected to their sense of self.

What are some ways you take care of your mental health?

Taking care of my mental health is an integral part of the work that I do. I love to walk around and discover new areas in my city. I play volleyball. I love reading and going to the movie theatre. I check in with my body and I listen if it needs rest, fresh air or food. With all this in mind, I feel most at peace and most like myself when I am in community with the people that I love. Spending quality time with friends and family is the greatest self-care that I can think of!
